Meet Yasmin

Moving Whittier forward!

My name is Yasmin Ferrada and I am running to serve as your next Whittier City Council member in District 3. I am a lifelong resident of Whittier where I had the pleasure of attending Murphy Ranch Elementary, Granada Middle School and graduated from La Serna High School. I decided to continue my education at California State University, Long Beach where I earned my BA in Chicana/o Studies and Sociology in 2013.

My passions include advocating for education both through my job, and in my community.I have worked in higher education in student affairs for six years.  Today, I serve as a Program Coordinator for New Student and Parent Programs at California State University, Los Angeles where I lead parent education efforts, orientation, and retention of incoming students.

I believe that education is the driving force to achieve better opportunities for all.  In addition to my passion for educational access, I have actively worked with the houseless population in Whittier through organizing community-led food drives and hygiene kits drives to provide folks with basic necessities to live a dignified life.

I am committed to earning your trust and bringing care, compassion, and dedication to Whittier City Council.  I would be honored to serve my community as your next Whittier City Council member. I promise to be the kind of public servant to always hold the concerns of my community with the highest priority. Whittier deserves that. Our community deserves that.
